Antique style
Antique-style fireplace tool set: reproduction or secondhand
Two ways to get an antique-style fireplace tool set: a genuine secondhand or antique dealer piece, or a new reproduction forged to order. The upsides and limits of each.
Searching for an "antique fireplace tool set" actually covers two different paths: finding a genuinely old piece (flea market, antique dealer), or ordering a new piece forged in an antique style — scrollwork, blackened finish, period proportions. This workshop offers the second option, not the first: we don't sell antiques.

New reproduction or secondhand piece
Dimensions, piece count and finish chosen at order time. No wear or corrosion inherited from prior use. The finish (blackened & waxed, or flue-rated paint) is guaranteed from delivery — see our finishes and care page.
A genuinely old object, with the history and patina that implies — but also variable condition (wear, corrosion, sometimes incomplete sets) and no guarantee on sturdiness. Price depends heavily on age, material and condition, with no fixed grid.
What a reproduction can borrow from an antique model
Forged scrollwork on the stand or handles, taller and more ornate proportions than today's entry-level sets, a matte black finish rather than a glossy one: these are the most commonly requested elements to evoke an antique style on a new piece. The piece count (3, 4 or 5, see our fireplace tool set page) and the stand height are confirmed in your quote, as with any made-to-order piece.
Frequently asked questions
What we get asked most often
Does the workshop sell genuine antique pieces?
No — the workshop forges new pieces, including in an antique style (scrollwork, blackened finish). For a genuinely antique piece, an antique dealer or flea market is the way to go.
How much does a secondhand antique set cost?
On the antiques market, old wrought-iron or brass sets most often trade between €240 and over €2,000 depending on age, material and condition — a market reference point, not a price charged by this workshop.
Can you reproduce a specific model from a photo?
Case by case, depending on the complexity of the model (scrollwork, proportions) — to be confirmed in your quote, with the reference photo attached.
Is a new reproduction as sturdy as an original piece?
A new piece has none of the wear or corrosion sometimes found on an antique one, and its finish (blackened & waxed or flue-rated paint) is chosen and guaranteed from the order.
